What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation appears as darkened patches or spots on the skin that make skin look uneven. It is the skins way of protecting itself against trauma and can appear due to environmental damage, breakouts and hormonal changes in the body.

The different types:

Age Spots or Sun Spots - From over exposure to the sun.

Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation - Skin injury or trauma heals and leaves a flat area of discolouration behind.

Melasma also known as Chloasma - Hormonal changes in the body often seen during and post pregnancy.
